“Eye care is a responsibility to be taken very seriously to provide optimal and consistent treatment outcomes” – Dr. Swapnesh

After cracking the 12th boards with 97% PCB and 175th rank in MHCET, he entered MBBS at Topiwala National Medical College, Nair hospital in 1999. Distinctions in Biochemistry ENT, Ophthalmology and General surgery marked his graduation years and he completed my internship in 2005. Same year he entered his PG at D.Y. Patil Medical College. After completing MS with gold medal honours in 2008, he was at J. J. Hospital as lecturer for 6 months.

Then came the most important phase of his career, when he joined Sankara Nethralaya at Chennai for vitreo-retina fellowship for 2 years. Dr. Pramod Bhende was his mentor during fellowship, which he completed in 2010. Next day he joined back J. J. Hospital under Dr. T. P. Lahane and worked as full time Retina consultant for 2 ½ years till mid 2012.

Later he joined Haji Bachooali Hospital in mid 2012 (which has completed 100 years and is the largest eye bank in Mumbai) as Retina consultant and he is working there till date for 3 years.

Along these years he cleared various national and international competitive exams like DNB, FRCS, (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons – Glasgow, UK), FICO (Cambridge University, UK,) FAICO – Retina (All India Ophthalmological Society’s Super-specialty Examination)

He has been PG teacher for MS students at J. J. Hospital and CPS students at Bachooali hospital. He has presented scientific papers at various conferences in India and abroad. He has published articles in per-reviewed journals and authored chapter in textbook of Retina.

His career was going great, but he realized that there was a need for patients to get high-quality and personalized treatment, under one roof.

Eye problems like glaucoma, dry eyes, cataract, spectacle error, retinal diseases like diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and hypertensive retinopathy were growing rampant across age groups. So he decided to build an organization that fosters trust, care and excellence. And that was how the dream venture, Anideep Eye Hospital, was born in 2015. From getting the best doctors on board to setting up high-end services – he overcame all the big challenges. He took charge of the marketing and bringing in the latest machines and technologies.

The hospital offers the latest and the best in medical technologies – like the 27 gauge vitrectomy systems for retina surgeries; scheimpflug imaging of posterior cornea for Lasik or torsional phacomulsification systems; ultra HD microscopes for cataracts, one of the largest ophthalmic modular operation theatres in Mumbai, with Laminar Airflow and Hepafilter and so on… as per the vision of Dr. Swapnesh Sawant.

At Anideep, it is his endeavour to channelize his and his teams’ skills, knowledge and services to help people see better.
